Foundational Vision (2003)

Established on June 1, 2003, in the heart of Kumbla, the school was founded by Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Pinto. Operating under the Catholic Board of Education of the Diocese of Mangalore, the institution was envisioned as a sanctuary for academic excellence and spiritual growth for rural communities, welcoming students regardless of caste, creed, or religion.

  • Initial Enrollment: 77 students (Kindergarten & Grade 1).

  • Technological Roots: In April 2003, the St. Monica Institution for Computer Education was launched to provide digital literacy to the wider community.

  • Infrastructure: Construction of the main school building commenced in October 2003.

Modernization & Growth (2022 – 2024)

The school has recently undergone a significant technological and physical transformation:

  • LEAD System (2022): Integrated to enhance interactive teaching and learning.

  • New Auditorium (Nov 2022): Inaugurated by Msgr. Maxim L. Noronha for cultural and academic seminars.

  • Fr. Herald Memorial Ground (2024): A dedicated sports facility inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza to foster physical fitness.

  • Digital Expansion (2024): Launch of the official school website and social media presence under the direction of Rev. Fr. Melwyn D’Souza.

Current Status (2025)

Today, St. Monica English Medium School stands as a beacon of holistic development, balancing modern infrastructure with deep-rooted values.

  • Student Body: 610 Students

  • Staff: 30 Teaching and 6 Non-teaching staff

  • Community Impact: The “Share and Care” drive continues to instill empathy and social responsibility in students by supporting the underprivileged.
