Creating a Safe Workplace | POSH Act Awareness for Staff

The PoSH Act Awareness Session

St. Monica School conducted a video awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (PoSH) Act, 2013, on 9 September 2026 for the female teaching and non-teaching staff. The awareness programme was organized and conducted by the members of the school’s PoSH Committee. The session was attended by In-charge Principal Sr. Sharmila, Academic Staff Secretary Ms. Deekshita, and all the female teaching and non-teaching staff.

Three videos were displayed, providing an overview of the PoSH Act and highlighting the importance of a safe, respectful, and dignified workplace. The session explained the meaning of sexual harassment, the mechanism for reporting complaints, and the role of the Internal Committee in ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and appropriate redressal. It also emphasized the need for professional workplace interactions and respect for every employee.

Following the videos, In-charge Principal Sr. Sharmila reminded everyone that no colleague should be hurt, either verbally or physically, and stressed the importance of maintaining respect and professionalism at the workplace. She also clarified that this session was only an introduction to the PoSH Act and its procedures. Detailed explanations and further classes on how harassment complaints are addressed and action is taken will be conducted in the upcoming sessions.

The session was informative and helped the participants understand the key principles of the PoSH Act, 2013. It reinforced the importance of awareness, professionalism, equality, and mutual respect, encouraging everyone to contribute towards a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free working
